I have been reading the posts about the resonanses in the door loudspeakers in the CN2 with premium sound system.

Someody mentioned a Damping kit being installed by the dealer.

My Honda Accord Tuorer 2.2 Executive had the same problems as many others. Resonans problems in the front doors.

I took it to the dealer and asked him to fix it.

First problem. The Car is (as me) from Denmark, but I live in Czech republic.
So premium sound system is not something they knew much about, but they accepted the mistake.

I have received the car back, and now I wanted to see how they fixed it, so I disassembled the door.

To my surprisiness I saw that they only put in two small stickers, which fair enough eliminated the problem.

My question is, do you have the same experience from this repair?

Second question. New speakers. Which one should I buy, and which one fit in the car. I am thinking component set.

Ken

I got the damping kit also, but I don't opened the doors (why should I do this?).

Are these two stickers the hole damping kit? Thats nice (must be cheaply :D ).

Thats nice - so I can explain myself, why in my car the first 'damping kit' doesn't worked as well, as I expected. So the honda-employee added just another sticker, and it works... ;)

But for how long does such a damping kit is working well?

Hi carlsen,
looks like you're not afraid of doing some handwork, so I'll give you the whole "How-to-do-it-right" tutorial ;)

If you want other speakers in order to further improve the sound quality, you will definitely need to build a wooden support for it.
That pastik piece of sh** will in no way be strong enough. Doesn't make any difference with that "big" standard magnet, but a real driver will shake enough to cause massive vibrations if not mounted well.

You should then also remove that "plastik bag" that keeps the water out and replace the whole dampening material. "Alubutyl" (really don't know the english word) works VERY good. Having that stuff on the outer plate of the door, which you can reach once that plastic foil is gone, will greatly reduce any resonances of the door.
Once done, replace the foil with that material, too.

When done, the door should look like this:

Finally replace the standard speaker mount with one made of wood or steel and you will experience a much stronger and harder bass, and an overall gain of sound precision.

How much money do you wanna spend on new speakers? Do you want to use an amplifier?
If you understand a little German, I would recommend to read the "car hifi FAQ" we set up in the Car-HiFi subarea right here. There are some recommendable speakers listet (don't buy ebay Anzeige crap).
Whatever you do, DO get a component system with seperate tweeter and 16cm woofer. Otherwise, you will have most of the sound right between your knees (could distract you fromn driving :P )
Building a wooden support, any of these speakers will fit.

PS: High-quality dampening stickers last forever. I tried to detach mine once, and finally just cut a whole to reach the inner side of the door.

in my brandnew MJ2006 Tourer there was a rumble-problem with the switchpanel in the left front door (auditible noise /vibrations when listening hard bass i.e. from safri duo's moon walker). It was solved by sealing the switchpanel with some silicone into the inner doorhandle. before this some dampening kits has been installed but it did not have the promised effect.

Loudspeakers in CN2
Sorry for writing in english, but I am not good in german writing. I have just bought the new Tourer 2,2CDTI Executive in Denmark, and I like the premium sound system. But I would like to buy better speaker, at least in the front. Do any of you...
